Roy Hodgson
Hodgson is arguably one of the English greatest managers to have managed abroad. He was manager of Swedish club Malmo FF for five seasons, helping the club win the league title each season. In the year 1992, Hodgson was appointed manager of the Switzerland national football team and took the nation to the 1994 world cup finals. He took charge of Italian club, Inter Milan in 1995 and stayed in charge for two seasons, helping the Italian giants to the 1997 UEFA Cup final. In the year 1997, he moved back to England, to manage Blackburn Rovers. In his first year in charge at the club he helped them qualify for the UEFA Cup. After a short period in charge of Blackburn he moved back to Switzerland to manage Grasshoppers FC. He is now currently manager of the Finland national football team.

Bobby Saxton
As a football player Saxton starred for many different lower league clubs. He started off his managerial career with Blackburn rovers in the year 1981 and spent five fruitful years at the club. He nearly got the club promoted during the 1984-85 season as they finished the campaign off in fifth place in the second division. At the start of the 1987-88 season he was installed as the manager of York City and he then had spells managing Exeter City and Plymouth Argyle FC. He was assistant manager to Peter Reid for Sunderland between 1995 and 2002.

Tony Parkes
Despite never being the permanent manager of Blackburn FC, Parkes has been caretaker manager on many different occasions and was a favourite with the Blackburn staff and players during his long spell at the club. He spent over 20 years acting as assistant manager to various different managers who have been in charge at Blackburn, including, Don Mackay, Bobby Saxton, Roy Hodgson, Brian Kidd, Ray Harford and Graeme Souness. He left the assistant managerial post once Mark Hughes came in charge at the club. He is now assistant manager of Blackpool to Simon Grayson.

Graeme Souness
Clubs – Liverpool, Blackburn, Newcastle
After five brilliant years in charge at Scottish outfit, Glasgow Rangers, Souness was installed as manager of Liverpool. In his period at Merseyside he won the FA Cup in 1992 however their was limited triumph in the premier league. After an FA Cup loss against Bristol City in 1994 he left the job and went in charge in Turkey. In 2000 he traveled back to England to manage Blackburn, and he earned the club promotion back into the premiership and won the Worthington cup with them in 2002. Souness was appointed manager of Newcastle in 2004; however injuries cost his club dear during his reign. After 2 seasons of reaching the lower section of the premiership table, his contract was ended in February 2006.

Kenny Dalglish
Clubs – Liverpool, Newcastle, Blackburn
In 1985, Dalglish was installed player manager of Liverpool and during his first season as manager he guided them to the ‘double,’ as they won both the league championship and FA Cup. He won the league championship once again in the 1987-88 campaign. Liverpool missed out on triumph in the league during the 1988-89 season in the final few seconds as they lost at home to rivals Arsenal; however he won the FA Cup with them that campaign. The 1989-90 season was the final time Liverpool won the football league. Dalglish left the managerial position at Liverpool in February 1991. Eight months after he went back into management as the gaffer of Blackburn Rovers. He enjoyed plenty of success with them as he took them to winning the premier league title in 1995. His third big managerial role in Britain came at Newcastle United when he was installed in January 1997. After a fantastic beginning at the club, Newcastle deteriorated and he found himself sacked in the summer of 1998.
